Pan Fried Walleye

Traditional walleye recipes do not come any easier than basic pan-fried walleye. The flavor of the meat is delicious, so a light breading for a crispy finish makes it is easy to have alone or with sides like corn on the cob, seasonal vegetables or topped on a salad.

Ingredients:

  • 6 walleye filets
  • 2 eggs
  • ¾ cups flour
  • 1 cup Italian style breadcrumbs
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • 4 Tablespoons of oil

Instructions:

Lightly the beat eggs in a dish. In a separate dish combine the flour, breadcrumbs, and seasonings (salt, onion powder and paprika).

Dip fresh walleye filets in the egg and then in flour mixture. Shake off any excess flour.

Add oil to the frying pan and heat over medium heat. When the pan is hot, add 3-4 filets into the oil. Cook 3 minutes per side until you see a nice browning effect.

Remove the fish from the pan and place on a lined baking sheet in the oven. Place the cooked fish in the oven heated to 250° while you fry the remaining fish.

Clean out the pan then add additional oil. Repeat process with remaining filets.

Serve the walleye pieces on a platter for family-style dining with an assortment of side dishes like green beans and coleslaw.

For a quick and easy walleye recipe that is a healthier option, pull out the air fryer.
